More Delicacies

Simian Mobile Disco has moved towards a more experimental techno sound with their new project Delicacies. Not only is it brilliant music, the names of the track are equally great. After Aspic and Nerve Salad it’s time for Thousand Year Egg and Casu Marzu. You should definitely try the music, I don’t know about the food.

For all of you out there who don’t know what these fantastic meals contain, pay attention now! Thousand Year Egg is not actually thousand year old eggs, but it looks like they were. Apparently about a hundred days of preserving with a mixture of clay, ash, lime, salt and rice hulls is enough. The yolk goes dark green and well you can imagine the smell. The white on the other hand turns brown and jelly like.

As for Casu Marzu it’s just plain rotten sheep cheese full of 0,8 millimeter (0,3 in) long larvae from the cheese fly. Some eat it without larvae and some with.

If you want more from Simian Mobile Disco, check out the interview we did with Jas and James. In that one you’ll find more about Delicacies as well. Okey so now, let’s taste that music. Enjoy!
