As you might have noticed Gomma’s Mathias ‘Munk‘ Modica finally (!) releases a new EP this autumn. The EP has a very broad influence spectrum – from Psychedelic Rock and Italo Pop to Piano disco and French chansons. With a groovy bass as the main theme, Munk puts all sorts of influences together and creates a very unique sound landscape. All this together makes Mondo Vagabondo a very much alive and dynamic dance record which is hard to categorize. In a good way.
Even though La Musica is the official single from the EP, and it’s a absolute floor filler, my personal favourite is first track Violent Love. A track that reminds me alot of early Munk track ‘Live Fast Die Old‘. But it’s hard to tell – the bass weaves the EP together and after a few listenings I can’t tell when one track ends and the other one starts. And not in a horrible repetative way, but a ecstatic one.
We’ve been writing about the remixes of La Musica before. But the original is so much more. So much deeper, more intense. Now it’s officially out. Hear for yourself:
